Try a precise square crop

Try without a personal file. The sample is an asymmetric colour grid, 640 × 320 pixels.

Source: red left edge and asymmetric colour grid
Original · 640 × 320
640 × 320 → 320 × 320 pixels. The middle half remains; both outer edges are removed.

  1. Download the sample and open it with Choose files in the tool above.
  2. X: 160 · Y: 0 · Width: 320 · Height: 320
  3. 640 × 320 → 320 × 320 pixels. The middle half remains; both outer edges are removed.

X and Y start at the top-left corner. Keep X + width within 640 and Y + height within 320 for this sample. Cropping does not enlarge the remaining pixels.

Why is the result different from a resize?

A crop discards the outside area. Resizing squeezes or scales the entire frame. Use Resize Image when every part of the original must remain.

These samples are free to use. The reference shows geometric results, not a guarantee of file size or compression quality.

How to crop an image

Keep only the part of the frame you need.

  1. Select a supported image.
  2. Enter the crop rectangle's X and Y position, width and height.
  3. Run the crop and review the result dimensions and preview.
  4. Download the new image or adjust the values and try again.

Cropping and image formats

Cropping removes pixels outside the selected rectangle without changing the remaining composition.

  • Transparent PNG and WebP areas remain transparent.
  • The output has smaller pixel dimensions than the source unless the full frame is selected.

Useful cropping scenarios

Crop to improve composition or fit a required shape.

  • Removing empty margins or distracting objects near an edge.
  • Making a square avatar or portrait social post.
  • Matching a website banner, product card or thumbnail ratio.

Watch the remaining resolution

A tight crop leaves fewer pixels for large displays or print.

  • Check the requested width and height before processing and the result dimensions afterward.
  • Start again from the original if you need a different crop later.

Private visual editing

The crop export and result preview are produced locally on your device.

  • The full source is not uploaded even though only part is exported.
  • Close the tab or clear the image when the task is complete.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter an exact crop area?

Yes. Enter the X and Y position and the exact width and height in pixels.

Does cropping reduce quality?

It does not rescale the selected pixels, but the smaller result has less total resolution.

Can I undo a crop?

The downloaded file is a new copy. Keep the original source and process it again with different values when needed.
